Here is my best tip to help you get kids outside hiking today. This tip will help you get out the door so that your family can have fun on the trail.
As a parent I can completely relate to those times when it seems impossible to get the kids out of the house. For whatever reason it can be impossible sometimes to take the family hiking let alone to the local park. Over the years I’ve tried lots of different tricks and I’ve found some that work and others that don’t. Ultimately, my best tip to get kids outside hiking is to just go. At the end of the day you and they will be glad that you did.
It’s Important To Get Kids Outside Hiking
I know that at the end of the day getting my kids outside hiking will have lots of benefits. We will all get some exercise and get to be in nature. Most importantly, we will have good family time together free from distractions and we’ll be making memories.
In the future we’ll remember a day spent hiking more than a day spent on the sofa watching TV. Those shared experiences are invaluable for us as a family.
The Best Tip To Get Kids Outside Hiking Today – Just Go
As I said I’ve tried all kind of tricks to get my kids out of the house and on the trails. Sometimes these tricks work and other times they kids just don’t want to go. Those are the really tough times because I want to go and I know that it will be good in the end.
Ultimately, my best and most important tip to get kids outside hiking is to just go. Yes, sometimes my coaxing, encouragement, reminders of how much fun it’s been in the past, and incentives just don’t work. Those are the times that I have to decide how much I want it and how important I think it is at the time.
If I decide it’s important then I will just announce that we are going. Yes, just go. I force the kids to head out to the car and we go hiking. I ignore the complaining and whining and we just go.
This is not a solution that I would suggest doing all of the time because it will just lead to resentment. This can only be done sparingly as a last ditch option.
Most of the time that we just go the kids are upset, but then once on the trail and outside we all start to have fun and everyone is glad we did. The hardest part is just overcoming that sluggishness and getting everyone out the door.
