Almost time to spring forward and change your clocks!

I love daylight savings time, which is about to happen.  That is good news for outdoors lovers because it means that my family and yours will have more daylight hours to explore.

Winter is coming to an end, which is a bummer for skiers.  Luckily there are a lot of great things to look forward to, such as hiking, camping, and just being outside in warm weather.  A lot of those fun things would not be quite as feasible or easy to do if it were not for daylight savings time.  Here are the top 3 reasons that I love when we change our clocks and spring forward.

#1 – The Days Are Longer!

This is obviously the top reason that I love daylight savings time.   Longer days mean that there is more time in the day to get outside and do fun things.

For example, I can go work all day and then after dinner the family and I can go for a hike or bike ride.  There is enough sunlight to still get exercise and get outside at the end of the day as opposed to during winter when we spend more time inside.

Ahh. There is nothing quite like a beautiful sunset.

#2 – I Love Sunsets

During the winter I feel like I don’t get to see very many sunsets.  But, during the summer I find myself outside more frequently when the sun sets.  I love watching the sunset.  There is just something magical about that time of day.  A beautiful sunset with some clouds in the sky to reflect the colors just puts your day and life in perspective.

Fishing at sunset with my daughter at a Rocky Mountain lake makes me happy.

#3 More Outside Time Makes Me A Happier Person

I am guessing that I am not alone in this, but the more time I get to spend outside during a day the happier I am.  In fact, studies have shown that spending time outside is good for children, leading them to be healthier and happier.  Who wouldn’t want to do what you can to help your children to be happier?

The longer days mean I get to spend more time outside, which helps me meet my goal to Get Outside Today!
